JJ Hollow - Thesis Freestyle

Image
"Thesis Freestyle" by JJ Hollow offers a raw and unfiltered glimpse into the artist's psyche, blending introspective musings with assertive declarations over a pulsating beat by producer, Colbert. Fresh off the energy of his latest EP, Do Not Disturb (available on all streaming platforms), JJ Hollow's freestyle showcases his adeptness at wordplay and rhyme schemes, reflecting his love for poetry and self-expression. He delivers forceful rhymes, lamenting about inattention and unfulfilled potential. He cleverly compares his flow to a "royal flush" and his verses to a "thesis."  Despite his nonchalant facade ("I don't care, I show no grievance"), bitterness seeps through as he raps about chasing happiness and numbing pain with weed. He criticizes the rap industry's superficiality and ends the song with a flurry of metaphors, emphasizing his relentless flow and desire to shake things up. Overall, this track is a confident and catchy...

Pem - awe

Image
Pem's "awe" is a dreampop (or perhaps dream-folk) lullaby wrapped in longing. The subdued vocals and hazy soundscape create a melancholic atmosphere, perfect for late-night contemplation. The lyrics hint at a yearning connection, with "I stayed awake for it" setting the scene for anticipation. The repeated "in the meantime" feels like a gentle plea for patience, while the bridge's "Wait, I was waiting" adds a touch of vulnerability, exploring the tender interplay of emotions in relationships. "awe" leaves you wanting more, echoing the sentiment of waiting for something beautiful to arrive.     Instagram Facebook YouTube

"Invincibility Codes" by Skies of Terra ft Seethe

Image
"Invincibility Codes" by Skies of Terra featuring Seethe throws the listener headfirst into a tumultuous descent through the realms of progressive post-hardcore. Euclides' vocals pierce the initial sonic barrage with a tense anguish, while Justin's visceral growls add a beastly counterpoint. The lyrics tackle themes of existential turmoil, with lines like "I'm falling out of time" and "Am I alive? Or barely just breathing?" These lines capture the essence of inner conflict and desperation. The song depicts a character on the brink of collapse, desperately seeking solace. The structure is anything but static, seamlessly shifting between intense verses and a chorus that demands attention. It feels like a sonic spiral, disorienting the senses and mirroring the protagonist's fall. Furthermore, Seethe's contribution in the breakdown explodes with raw aggression and catharsis, driving home the emotional intensity of the track and showcasi...

Mother Feather - Believers

Image
Mother Feather's "Believers" isn't a song, it's a sonic Molotov cocktail. Stripped-down verses explode into a wall of crunchy guitars and Ann Courtney's vocals, a searing siren call channeling Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Siouxsie. This alt-rock/glam-punk fusion explodes with defiant energy, leaving no room for apathy. Courtney's powerhouse voice becomes a weapon of hope, soaring above the chaos, urging listeners to rise against adversity. Film: Signs of Allegiance

Image
Guest Post by Abeeha   As a low-budget short film, Signs of Allegiance is based on a genre of drama and action. With the portrayal of trust and loyalty between two partners Slick and Jay, the production has immensely built its narrative alongside the main plot. Usually, short movies deliver their message with the inclusion of minimum characters which contributes to entertaining the attention of the spectators. The action performed by the cast in the film is worth watching as everyone is involved in the character given to them. The most authentic feature to praise the plot is the use of colloquial language. The natural yet simple narration has been chosen to be part of  storytelling. It seems that the direction has been conducted to capture the casual settings like bar, room and car scenes. No wonder how the suspense is created by Jay’s story in revealing the plans of Slick. Emotions are pushed by the simple dialogues, surely audience will have sympathy for Jay. Thrill and dra...

Those Monsters - #1 Crush (Garbage Cover)

Image
Those Monsters sink their teeth into Garbage's "#1 Crush," transforming it into a darkwave synth monster. Gone are the guitars, replaced by brooding synths that evoke neon-lit alleys and late-night confessions. Breathy vocals replace Shirley Manson's iconic snarl, adding a haunting vulnerability to the obsessive lyrics. It's a delicious departure from the original, perfect for fans of dark electro and anyone craving a twist on a '90s classic. Facebook YouTube
